Overall: 8.0/10
Story 7.5/10
The second season for Arcane begins with Piltover trying to pick up the pieces of Jinx’s attack on the council. Some lose a great deal. Ripe for the picking, Ambessa seeks to exploit Top Side grief to get her hands on the only weapon her family’s enemies fear.
Topside (Piltover) and the Undercity (Zaun) now face an enemy that could mean everyone's doom. Can they put old grievances aside? Or will this be the end of it all?
The writers move the story along with an uptempo. But the story isn't rushed. They pay close attention to the characters. And they focus meticulously on the details of their character arcs.

Character 8.1/10
Jinx/Powder (Ella Pernell)
Jinx isn’t sure who she is without Vi or Silko. But she’s always wanted to be like Vi: the hero. When Jinx meets Isha, it’s like she finds Powder again. She finds who she is supposed to be.
It’s ironic that Isha eventually looks like Powder does as a child. It's like she's a reflection of Jinx's inner self. And through Isha, Powder lives again. It awakens something in Jinx. She opens her heart to others.
Vi (Hailee Steinfield)
Vi is torn between her sister and Catlin—between Zuan and Piltover, even if she says she is ready to forsake her sister.
But Vi soon has to amend her worldview when she witnesses what Jinx means to the Undercity. On top of that, she confronts an old ghost, who makes her reach out for the family she yearns for.
Isha (N/A)
Isha is alone and in trouble when she stumbles across Jinx. Jinx saves her in more ways than one. But Isha returns the favor. To Isha, Jinx is a larger-than-life hero. She just wants Jinx to see herself the way the rest of the Undercity does.
She loves Jinx for giving her a family and a place to belong. For her, Isha would sacrifice everything.
Caitlyn (Katie Leung)
Caitlyn is grieving. She hates Jinx and is warring within herself. Caitlyn wants to bring Jinx to justice. But she doesn’t want to take her rage out on the Undercity. It would risk her standing with Vi.
Caitlyn really wants Vi to show her loyalty. She wants Vi to choose Piltover over Zaun. Because to Caitlyn that means Vi chooses her. But Vi's refusal to choose against the Undercity unbalances Caitlyn even more.
In Caitlyn's grief and confusion, she becomes susceptible to predators seeking to use her for their own ends.
Ekko (Reed Shannon)
Ekko has always had feelings for Jinx/Powder. It's complicated for him. It's tough for him to reconcile those feelings with the things Jinx has done. And it doesn't help matters that Jinx constantly pushes people away.
But when Ekko gets a glimpse of greater possibilities and what could be, he tries to save what he originally deems unsalvageable.
Viktor (Harry Lloyd)
Viktor evolves. He inherits the dream of Zaun that so many Undercity folks fail to bring to reality. Now he has the power to actualize it. And he wants to make it a peaceful Mecca for all who are weary.
But events force him to realize that the peace of Zaun must be protected through violence. And he aligns himself with someone he shouldn't. He decides he will give his peace to everyone. It doesn't matter if they want it or not.
Jayce (Kevin Alejandro)
Jayce glimpses a vision of the future. It reshapes how he sees the world. It gives him a mission that supersedes everyone and everything. It's even more important than his friendship with Viktor.
Mel Medarda (Toks Olagundoye)
Mel Medarda has always known her mother holds secrets. But she never truly understood the depth of the lies that her mother tells and what she is willing to sacrifice until now.
Her anger burns brightly when she learns the truth. She wants her mother to take responsibility for her long list of sins.
Ambessa Medarda (Ellen Thomas)
Ambessa Medarda is a warmonger who crosses the wrong people. Her family is paying the price for it. It’s not enough that they pay. While she searches for weapons she can use against her enemies, Zaun and Piltover become collateral.
Ambessa is fine with that. No price is too steep if it means she will defeat her enemies.

Animation 8.5/10
The animation is phenomenal. The art style is unique and visually stunning. At times, the stills look like gorgeous paintings. The character designs are boons to the storytelling.
Many of the characters have evolved in the second season. The character designs superbly reflect the shift in their character arcs.
Final Thoughts
The second season of Arcane is almost as impressive as the first. It sets the stage for a much bigger story. This viewer can't wait to see what the larger League of Legends Universe has in store!
